Tomorrow, June 12, is a special day for Dover Cruise terminal. For the first time, a Disney Cruise Lines ship will arrive at the port, the first of several visits by Disney to Dover during summer 2010. The Disney Magic is based in Europe this summer, partly in Barcelona and partly in Dover. From Dover it will cruise to the Baltic and the Norwegian Fjords. Disney Cruise Lines will have a ship permanently based in Europe from 2011. It is anticipated that this may be the new Disney Dream.
Dover has built a considerable presence as a cruise terminal in recent years and many leading cruise lines now use the port. The cruise business was established to counter an anticapted loss of ferry passengers when the Channel Tunnel opened about 15 years ago and has been a big success.
