Italian tour..

A recent enquiry was for an interesting touring holiday but it also had plenty of potential problems. The initial enquiry was from a group of mid-20s guys who wanted to collect a car in Italy and a couple of weeks later return it at Nice in France. This would have made an international one-way rental with the associated charges. The lads quickly accepted that returning the car somewhere near the French border, probably Genoa, and then catching the bus or train to Nice would be cheaper.  It then followed that they considered flying back from Genoa but would they be allowed to take the car into France during the rental? Yes, no problem, so it was just a case of deciding on the actual route. Venice was a potential arrival point before the final routing of arriving at Rome Fuimicino airport and returning from Bergamo airport, with a trip into France in between, was agreed. The next problem was that two of the three drivers would be only 24 at the time of this holiday. Usually this would incur young drivers supplements. However one major rental company in Italy has reduced the age for this to only 23 so this expense was avoided. Finally the rental was agreed as a VW Passat estate with air-con., one free additional driver, no excess and no extra charges for the one-way routing or the excursion into France. The only extra charge is a few euros a day for the third driver.
