May – the bookings continue…
May has continued as April ended – busy! Lots of enquiries, including some interesting and unusual ones. Economy and family cars were the most in demand as always with bookings for compact cars at Nice and Liverpool. Economy cars at Poitiers and Pisa plus several at a bargain offer rate from Hertz at East Midlands, Stansted and Heathrow airports. A group of golfers chose an Opel Zafira at Bordeaux, another group a Ford Galaxy 7-seater at Pescara on the Italian Adriatic and a family group opted for two Berlingos rather than one 9-seater for the Costa Calida. One-way bookings were a Ford Ka from Alicante to Murcia and an international routing from Montpelier to Turin in a Focus. Oh, and there was the Alfa Spider at Milan – see post 01 May.
Awaiting action are enquiries for a 7-seater Picasso/Scenic and an economy car at Murcia, more economy cars for Bordeaux, the Dordogne, Arrecife (Lanzarote) and Alghero in Sardinia. Also in Italy an Alfa 159 for Milan, a convertible for Naples to Sorrento on the Amalfi coast and several cars, including a compact automatic and a mini-MPV, for the family and friends of clients who are getting married in Tuscany. A regular client enquired about cars at either Zeebruuge ferryport or Lille Eurostar for a tour of the Flanders battlefields.
The USA is really popular and imaginative routings are a flavour of the month. First a premium car or convertible for Route 66, a 7/8-seater from Manhattan to Newark airport (much cheaper if collected at Newark rather than in Manhattan), another 8-seater in New Jersey and an 8/12-seater Minivan for LAX. Most unusual though was a request for Rapid City in South Dakota to Calgary in Canada in a Minivan. Unfortuantely this is not permitted and the clients are having to re-think their plans. The vehicle can be driven into Canada but not left there, it has to be returned to an office in the USA.
Finally, on the other side of the world, a 4×4 for Dubai.
