As mentioned in our previous post, the World Travel Market took place in London last week. Taking place over four days each November, this is the biggest meeting of the travel industry in the world. We were there again and had our usual mix of planned and unplanned meetings. The turmoil in world financial markets continues to impact on car hire. Most US rental companies have increased their rates to reflect the big changes in the exchange rate between the US$ and the GB£. Conversely many Spanish companies are offering incredibly low rates in an attempt to attract business over the winter. Rates for Spring and Summer 2009 have been delayed in some cases as rental companies wait for signs of stability in order to avoid having to change rates after issuing them.
