Stop-sells already…

Over the weekend we received an e-mail from Goldcar (Europa Rentacar S.L.) with some stop-sell dates. Despite being one the largest rental companies in Spain, they are already sold out at many of their offices for Focus estates Fiestas and also for some other cars at a lesser number of offices. The dates in question are mid-late February and mid-late March, which is the UK school half-term holiday and Easter weekend period (not the UK Easter school holiday which in most cases is early April – but expect the same problem for this period). Easter is 8 weeks away and … Continue Reading

You say about us…

‘Thank you so much for all the trouble you are taking. It is very much appreciated.’

‘Thanks for all your support over the last four years in our car hire requirements. Its a great comfort to know that we can telephone you whenever we have a car hire requirement’ – regular client now off to live in Spain, however we are always busy with cars at UK airports for visiting ex-pats so we look forward to hearing from them again.

‘As usual I appreciate your efficiency’.

Business is still booming..

Despite the anticipated recession, or perhaps because of it, we are much busier than last year. A mix of short, late breaks and early booking (very sensible) for the summer holidays. Late bookings were for economy cars at Alicante, Almeria, Lanzarote, a one-way in Paris between CDG and Orly airports and a full-size car with Sat. Nav. in Florida. For the summer a Focus estate at Murcia and an MPV at Brescia in Italy.

Amongst the many enquiries were a 4×4 SUV or a Minivan in Miami, another 4×4 SUV from Miami to Orlando, 2 convertibles or premium cars in Orlando … Continue Reading

On TV again..

A couple of nights ago the popular documentary programme Horizon was shown on BBC2. Presented by Michael Portillo, the subject was methods of execution and much of the programme was set in the southern states of the USA. The production compnay had asked us to arrange a number of full-size cars and 7-seater Minivans at Houston in Texas and also at New Orleans and Baton Rouge in Louisiana. New Orleans and Houston were fairly straightforward as all major companies have offices at these airports. However Baton Rouge is not easy, as major companies such as Dollar and Alamo do … Continue Reading

Million Pound Place in the Sun..

Our post of 11 August was about a car we arranged for a special edition of the Channel 4 TV programme ‘A Place in the Sun’. This programme was aired a few nights ago, and the buyers were Spurs and England footballer Jermaine Defoe and his fiancee Charlotte who were looking for a holiday home on Majorca. Or rather it was Charlotte and her mother were doing the house-hunting as Jermaine couldn’t make it. We have been arranging cars for ‘A Place in the Sun’ for several years, including some of the ‘Celebrity’ editions. For this programme a convertible … Continue Reading

Wow, what a start to the year…

2008 has started off at a rush. Bookings were for an economy car at Sarasota in Florida for 29 days, a 4×4 SUV with Sat. Nav. at LAX, a VW Golf in Salzburg, a Mondeo in Newcastle and more economy cars at Perpignan, Gran Canaria and Stansted.

There were also enquiries for one of the new intermediate 4×4s with Sat. Nav in Los Angeles for 3 weeks in May, a full-size car for Boston to New York JFK, a mini-MPV or Berlingo and a Fiesta at Alicante, a people-carrier at Verona and a family car at Bergamo (Orio al Serio) for … Continue Reading

Christmas/New Year business..

Enquiries and bookings may slow down but they don’t stop over the holiday period. Recent bookings have included two Renault Scenic mini-MPVs for the BBC from Turin to Rome, economy cars at Paris Orly airport, Toulouse and Murcia and a Ford Focus at York railway station. Outstanding enquiries include a Smart ForFour at Arrecife (Lanzarote), a Fiat Multipla for Alghero on Sardinia and another 6-seater for Chambery in the French Alps. There were several very late bookings just before Christmas which were too late to be successful. People-carriers need more than 24 hours notice at any time of year let … Continue Reading

First our best wishes to all readers of this Blog for a Happy and Prosperous New Year.

Secondly, the New Year has got off to a flying start (sorry for the pun!) with Easyjet announcing a raft of new low-cost routes.
