Latest business…

Bookings are quieter at the moment but there are plenty of interesting enquiries which bodes well for the coming weeks. Economy cars were confirmed in Carcassonne, Dinard, Gerona, Oviedo (Asturias) and for a one-way from Madrid to Seville. Also a Ford Focus at Malaga and a 7-seater people-carrier in Amsterdam. And for ex-pats, two cars at Stansted airport.

The USA featured strongly amongst enquiries and one-way routings were particularly popular. LAX to San Francisco is regular enquiry, but there was also Las Vegas to Chicago, Oklahoma to Chicago and Memphis to Orlando. Other US enquiries were for a full-size car or … Continue Reading

UK licences..

For years now rental companies have accepted all versions of the UK driving licence. That is the current two-part photo-licence, the previous pink document and even the old green licence (yes, some people do still have them!). However some rental companies have indicated that they are to stop accepting all older versions of the UK licence and that they will only accept the current two-part photo-licence. Currently only a few rental companies have announced this action but typically what one or two companies do today, the rest follow very quickly. If you have a pink or green licence we … Continue Reading

An Italian job

Trevor is not only an excellent business advisor for Kent Invicta Chamber of Commerce but is also a long-standing client of www.carhirewarehouse.com. On his recent trip to Italy we organised a small car him at Bergamo (sometimes known as Orio al Serio) airport. He has sent the attached photo and the following feedback..’the Fiat Panda was an excellent little car and the admin. was great. You doesn’t need an SLK (Mercedes) around the narrow Italian lakes lanes. Thanks for your usual first class service’. The photo shows the car north of Lake Como close to the Swiss border. … Continue Reading

Fuel…

There has been some confusion about fuel this summer, especially the arrangements when collecting and returning your car. There are three options for this:

1) by far the most popular arrangement is that the car is supplied with a full tank of fuel and you return it with a full tank. The rental company will hold a deposit which is taken from your credit card. If the tank is not full when the car is returned the rental company will fill it up and charge you for the fuel that they have supplied, usually plus a service charge. These costs are … Continue Reading

The SPAA launched 01 Sept…

The SPAA is the Spanish Property Agents Association and Endless Leisure Ltd., through our www.acarinSpain.com brand, are proud to sponsor this new organisation. Over the years there have been many attempts at creating ‘professional’ associations or bodies to cover overseas property agents. The best known is FOPDAC. A couple of years ago the AIPP (Association of Independent Property Professionals) was born. In between times there have been at least two other such bodies, both of which appear to have failed for various reasons. So what is different about the SPAA? First it is for agents selling only or primarily … Continue Reading

In Spain there was also an economy car in Murcia, Opel Meriva at Barcelona and Focus estates at Valencia and Alicante. Finally a Focus at York station in the UK … Continue Reading

Guidelines for people-carriers…

These vehicles are hugely popular but there have been a few misunderstandings as to their permitted uses, practicalities and purpose. To assist when considering one of these vehicles below are a few basic guidelines:
1. the number of seats that we advise, based on information from the rental company, includes the driver

2. when all seats are used by passengers luggage space is limited, sometimes very limited

3. most of these vehicles have three rows of seats – if the third row is not being used by passengers then luggage space is good, certainly better than in the equivalent hatchback or saloon car … Continue Reading
