This week…

With a Bank Holiday at the beginning of the week and also nearing the end of the school holidays this week should have been a little calmer. However the TV companies ensured that we remained very busy. They needed two 1-day rentals at very short notice, one in Faro and the other a one-way from Monte Carlo to Nice. Then there was Croatia. Two Skoda Octavia estates from Rijeka to Split and a VW EOS convertible, also at Rijeka but being returned at Pula. For the estates we used a company that is new to us but highly … Continue Reading

Rent a Sat. Nav…

Have you ever wanted a sat. nav. with your rental car but been told that rental company doesn’t have them at your destination, or that they are on a ‘first booked, first served’ or ’subject to availability on arrival’ basis? Book it here in the UK, have it delivered to your door, take it on holiday with you – you have time to read the instructions properly on the flight, no availability problems, no one-way charges – … Continue Reading

Comments

We really value your comments and input to this Blog. However we are getting regular ‘contributions’ which are nothing more than advertising – and in many cases irrelevant to the content of this Blog. It is takes us less time to delete these ‘comments’ than it takes these idiots to write and submit them so why they are wasting their time in this way we don’t know.

Please keep sending your relevant and interesting comments and we will be happy to post them for you. The other guys we will just keep deleting until they get bored and go away.

Summer demand continues…

Another very busy period. The TV company confirmed their cars for Salzburg, Mulhouse, Malaga and Nice and also booked more cars – a Mulhouse-Nice one-way via Italy and another for Milan Malpensa airport. Murcia was very busy with a couple of Berlingos, a Focus automatic, a Ford Ka and a Focus C-Max mini-MPV on a one-way to Madrid airport. Also in Spain an economy car at Alicante, a Mercedes A-class at Seville, a one-way from Valladolid to Santander and a BMW X3 at Palma in Mallorca. Other bookings were for Dinard, Stansted and Orlando. The Orlando car is for a … Continue Reading

Successful bookings…

As well as the problems mentioned on the previous post, there have been many successful bookings and a record level of enquiries. Confirmed bookings included economy cars at Alicante and Pisa, an estate car at Palermo ferryport, two mini-MPVs (Renault Scenic or similar) at Mulhouse in eastern France and an Opel Zafira 7-seater at Bergerac. There were also several one-ways including a 7-seater from Venice to Milan Malpensa, a VW Passat estate at Pescara going to Rome, a Mercedes automatic from La Manga to Malaga and a Peugeot 207CC convertible on an international one-way from Toulouse to Barcelona.

Late booking, no cars??

We constantly advise that rental cars should be booked as early as possible and we already have enquiries for 2008. However we have had more late, and extremely late, enquiries this year than ever before. Unfortunately this has meant disappointment for many people as the car of their choice has long since been sold out – this has particularly applied to the many late enquiries for people-carriers – but also applies to convertibles, automatics, Jeeps/4×4s and luxury cars. On the Spanish Costas in particular even mainstream cars like the Focus, Fiesta and Ka have been sold out. Please do … Continue Reading

Something special for a ‘Special’

The producers of a very well known television programme recently contacted us. They were filming a ‘Special’ edition of the programme on Majorca and wanted a special car, must be a convertible, for this show. We contacted our friends at a local company on the island that has a good choice of unusual rental cars. After considering the VW Beetle and Mini convertibles, a Jeep Wrangler and even a Mercedes CLK cabriolet, they chose a Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible like the one below. The car supplied was black with a cream interior and apparently looked stunning – we understand … Continue Reading

A mad week…

As usual the first week of the school holidays brings a rush of very late bookings. This was made worse by a lot of late holiday bookings as people try to escape our dismal summer. Anyway the good news is confirmed bookings for an estate and an economy car on the Algarve, another estate for the TV crew in Majorca, two cars at Alicante, economy cars in France at La Rochelle, Perpignan and Nice and a car for an ex-pat arriving at Stansted.

Other interest was for Dinard, Bordeaux, Paris and a Bergerac to La Rochelle in France. Other possible business … Continue Reading

‘Thanks for the advice Mark….you’ve been very helpful’ – new enquiry

Forums and information sites – there are a number of these sites, especially for Spain, and most have a page for car rental links. Usually the the format of these pages allow a client to comment on a company or site that they have used and to rate that company or site on a scale of 1 (very poor) to 10 (brilliant). When we checked our links on these sites recently all the scores for our sites, including www.acarinSpain.com … Continue Reading
