Manic mid-summer..

Mid-summer madness continues! Lots of activity with Spain leading the way again. Barcelona for two young drivers – the car is to be used in France but French supplements for young drivers are very high so it is cheaper to fly into Spain (Gerona is nearer to the French border and even cheaper but the flights were full) and hire a car from a Spanish company. Several enquiries for Murcia and Alicante plus Valencia, Gerona, Zaragoza and Tenerife. Plus one-ways from Murcia to Torrevieja and Zaragoza to Barcelona.

A lot of requests were for people-carriers – an 8/9-seater at Bordeaux TGV … Continue Reading

The last fortnight..

The last two weeks have been really busy hence why this is a two-week up-date rather than the usual weekly one. The sunny holiday destinations are extremely busy with Spain predictably leading the way. 3 cars, 2 Mercedes A-class and a convertible, for a TV company at Palma in Majorca, plus economy and family cars at Gerona, Barcelona, Murcia, Almeria and Mojacar and automatics at Valencia and Malaga. In France Caen TGV station, La Rochelle, Bergerac and a short-notice convertible at either Figari airport or Porto Vecchio on Corsica. Another enquiry was for either Nice, Pisa, Genoa or Bologna – … Continue Reading

Many car rental companies permit their cars to be taken from Gerona into France and this can have a number of benefits. First is simply the likely availability of flights from an airport near to your home. Secondly, some of the Spanish … Continue Reading

This week…

Spain and the USA/Canada featured strongly this week. In Spain there were mini-MPVs for Palma and Murcia plus other bookings at Valencia, Barcelona and Murcia again. In the States a 22-day booking in Pennsylvania for a 4×4 SUV and an enquiry for an 8-seater Minivan for Las Vegas to Los Angeles. The good news is that inter-state one-ways between Nevada and California don’t incur extra charges with some rental companies. In Canada a 10-seater in Montreal. We tried several major rental companies but all only had 7-seaters as their largest vehicle. On the West coast a young driver was looking … Continue Reading
