This week..

Another busy and varied week. Italy featured strongly with several bookings for Pisa and Alghero, one of which is a convertible for the TV programme ‘A Place in the Sun’. There was also a Vauxhall Zafira at La Rochelle and cars for regular clients at Perpignan and Alicante. Other enquiries included a convertible at Dinard plus cars for Paris CDG airport, Limoges, Caen TGV station and Palma in Mallorca. There was a number of one-way enquiries including two for one client on Corsica, Propriano to Ajaccio and Bastia to Ile Rousse, both possible and at very good rates. Also Madrid … Continue Reading

Your feedback..

‘Many thanks for your splendid service, as usual. We even got an upgrade to a Ford Focus with a/c’. Our thanks to Hertz at Gatwick for the upgrade.

‘Fantastic’ – about the car and service from National Maggiore at Olbia in Sardinia.

This week..

Another busy and varied week. Valencia and Pisa were the busiest destinations with three cars each, including the convertible for a 40th birthday celebration at Pisa. There were people-carriers at Alicante and La Rochelle plus bookings for Malaga, Poitiers, Nantes and Faro. And a very, very late booking for Bristol (made at 7.00pm the day before travel). Other enquiries were for Dinard, Alghero in Sardina plus a second car at either Pisa, Livorno or Florence, Cologne, Jersey and a one-way from Granada to Murcia. In the USA a compact car for next Easter (no availability problems if you book early!) … Continue Reading

Which cards for excess, fuel, etc??..

Whilst up-dating the licence situation, this is a good point at which to re-confirm the credit card requirements when collecting your car. Without exception, car rental companies rules state that they require the LEAD DRIVER to present a valid CREDIT card in their OWN NAME in order to secure the excess/deductible and fuel deposit and to pay for any local services such as extra drivers and child seats. Not a debit card, charge card, cash or travellers cheque. The vast majority of credit cards are either Mastercard or Visa. Debit cards are generally Switch, Maestro, Visa (Delta) or Connect – … Continue Reading

Your driving licence..

It is standard practice that a valid licence has to be shown by all persons wanting to drive a rental car. But we are now advised that the rental companies are becoming more exacting in this respect. First we understand that they will soon require a current two-part UK licence only, no longer will the older pink and green licences be accepted. We don’t have a definite time-scale for this but it is clearly worth getting your licence up-dates if you still have an old-style one. Secondly, an International licence will be required in addition to the national licence in … Continue Reading

This week…

The big theme this week was people-carriers. Bergerac, Barcelona, Malaga, Alicante and La Rochelle were the destinations with 6 to 9-seaters being required. Other activity was for Morlaix, Dinard and La Rochelle in France. In Italy two cars for one party – the first an estate for five people then an economy car for the second week after three have gone home. Also in Italy a convertible in Pisa for a 40th birthday celebration. A Manchester-Southampton one-way in the UK. For the US a 4×4 SUV on a ‘young drivers deal’ in Florida and a request from Australia for a … Continue Reading

Fuel at Toulouse airport

A client recently retuned from Toulouse and advised that they were unable to find a petrol station near the airport. We have many clients use Toulouse airport and have never had this problem reported before. If you know of a petrol station, or a supermarket that sells fuel, near Blagnac, please advise in Comments.

Have your say…

To prove that we don’t publish only the good bits, we have had this feedback on a Chrysler PT Cruiser convertible in Orlando. ‘I hated the PT Cruiser, what a pointless car that was, small, awkward, gutless, uncomfortable, etc,.. ..the Cruiser was just awkward like the boot was so low you had to get on your knees to use it, then it was so small it wasn’t worth bothering. Plus the chairs aren’t height adjustable … ..handled OK for an American car.’ And if you are thinking of a convertible in America, Dan leaves this piece of wisdom … Continue Reading

This week…

May has been a terrific month, one of our best ever. A major theme during the last week has been one-way rentals. A South African client touring Europe has asked about Heathrow to Gatwick, Marseilles to Nice and either Genoa or San Remo to Venice. Another one-way enquiry was for a convertible from San Diego to Las Vegas. Finally the convertible at Faro was confirmed but the clients then asked of they could change the collection arrangements (not usually a good idea!) and this car is now being collected at Lisbon and returned to Faro. Other activity included an … Continue Reading
