This week…

Quieter, typical of a week leading up to a school holiday and Bank holiday, but still plenty of activity, some late bookings and some interesting clients. Late bookings at Bergerac and Almeria were both confirmed for the following day whilst there was more notice for cars at Bordeaux, Dinard and Carcassone. Limoges was the popular destination this week with four different enquiries. Elsewhere in France included Bordeaux and Toulouse. One of our regular introducers asked about a car at Orlando International (MCO) for their son. He is a young driver (under 25) but knows that there are special deals for … Continue Reading

What a week again!!…

It started well, with the 9-seater in Bordeaux being confirmed for our New Zealand tour operator. Then a family estate confirmed for Rennes in Normandy. Last weeks enquiry for a Peugeot 207CC convertible for Nice to Tuscany came back and booked, but the car is being returned to Rome rather than to Pisa or Florence. New business included economy cars at Poitiers and Pisa plus three cars at Murcia on the Costa Calida, compact cars (Ford Focus or similar) at Perpignan and Caen, and a family estate and 7-seater MPV both at Bordeaux.

Enquiries were plentiful and varied. In the USA, … Continue Reading

Have your say…

‘Thank you again in anticipation for your help which has always been first class in the past’ – regular client visiting Italy this year.

‘Thank you for your prompt reply’ – new enquiry going to the South of France

‘Thanks for your quick reply’ – French holiday homes agent visiting the UK.

What a week!!

Really busy this week, mainly for Spain and France. In Spain regular clients booked for Valencia, Murcia and Alicante. For Valencia there was an economy car for a few days next week and then two cars for two weeks each for the family holiday in July. After considering the options two Citroen Berlingos were chosen, one to be driven by a 21-year old – most Spanish companies don’t charge supplements for young drivers on the Costas. A Smart 2-door was the preferred car at Alicante as the client has had these before and loves them. Unfortunately they are not available … Continue Reading

Double first for this car..

This photo has just been sent in by my cousin and his wife. It shows their rental car from when they stayed at a friends property in the Dordogne a few years ago. This car is ’special’ because not only was it our first booking at Bergerac, then a new destination for low-cost airlines, but it was also our first booking with Hertz. Bergerac has since become a hugely popular destination with many airlines flying there. Our arrangement with Hertz has also gone from strength to strength and they are a major partner for us.

This week…

Apart from the issues already reported on other posts, this week has been busier all round. Confirmed bookings included cars at Bordeaux for our New Zealand client, plus Limoges, Bergerac and La Rochelle in France, Alicante, Malaga and Almeria in Spain and 2 cars each at Olbia and Catania plus Pisa in Italy. Also confirmed was the Eastbourne-Gatwick one-way in the UK. Most popular car type was undoubtedly the mini-MPV (Renault Scenic/ Ford Focus C-Max or similar) with two in Catania for a family group, another for a friend at Malaga and one for a regular client in Olbia. … Continue Reading

£140??, no, we booked it for £76.74

A regular client wanted to book a compact car, Peugeot 307 or similar, for just 2 days at La Rochelle later this month. As always, 2 day rates can be expensive and about £140 was the consistent figure. However by using advice from the Reservations team at a major rental company, and also taking advantage of a promotion that they are running, we managed to book the car for just £76.74. Another very satisfied client!

More booking problems with Europcar France..

Just received by e-mail from Europcar UK is news that 7-seater people-carriers, Renault Espace and similar, at sold out at many Europcar offices in France from mid-June right through to mid-September. This includes the airports at Poitiers, La Rochelle and Nimes, all used by UK low-cost airlines. Major locations such as Paris CDG, Nice, Marseilles and Toulouse are so far not affected and still have people-carriers available for these dates. However urgent booking is clearly advisable. It is normal for 9-seaters to be unavailable in France for a large part of the summer but this is the first time that … Continue Reading

Book early for Bergerac..

This morning we had a booking request for Bergerac airport. The car was to be collected on 12 May, 11 days from now and was for a popular economy car with air-con, Renault Clio or similar. Unbelievably, Europcar have already sold out for that date, and also out of compact cars, Golf/Focus/307 etc., at this location. Bergerac has always had an availability problem in the July/August peak season but only for bookings within a week of travel. Europcar, along with other companies, advised earlier in the year that they would be reducing the size of their fleet in France for … Continue Reading
